When Does Book Two come out?
I’m currently working on book two and hope, hope, hope to have it out in early spring of 2016 but it’s hard to predict such things. I will be doing frequent updates and will send out a blast to my newsletter subscribers when the book goes on sale for pre-order.
Are you planning on doing more with Neoma’s character?
Yes. She has a much larger role to play in the books coming up and we will get to know her a lot better in book two. I haven’t forgotten about her. She may even get her own book at some point.
Will Tristin have more banshee powers? What was in that book?
Yes, Tristin’s powers will advance. Everybody’s will. I’m not saying anything more than that just yet.
Why does your book call the series the Reanimator series but Amazon calls it the Dead Things series?
Way back before I knew anything at all about publishing (like two days ago) I decided to call the book the Reanimator series not considering the fact that there was a 1970’s horror movie entitled Reanimator. Because the title of my book Children Shouldn’t Play with Dead Things is also the name of a 1970’s horror movie (No, it wasn’t intentional and no, I don’t know why I keep inadvertently naming my books over cultish horror movies) I thought it was better to at least differentiate one of them and it was easier to correct the name of the series since the book was already well under way. The books had already gone to print so…there ya go. Moral of the story? Do your research, kiddies.
Will you be doing advanced reader copies?
When it gets closer to launching book two we will be offering up opportunities for advanced reader copies. If interested you can see my press page.
Do you do interviews or guest posts?
Yes, time permitting. Please see my press page for contact information. I’m about to launch my virtual book tour. It starts October 1st and runs through November. I’ll be stopping by about 35 different blogs. I’ll be updating frequently as the tour goes on.
Can I contact you directly?
Yes! I love to hear from you guys. You can email me at Martina@MartinaMcAtee.com and I will happily answer you back as soon as I can.
Well that’s the easiest question to answer. I’m a born and raised Floridian and when it comes to strange and unusual, it doesn’t get much weirder than Florida. We have so many bizarre stories we have our own Twitter account called Florida Man (You should absolutely check it out.) Besides, I like the idea of having the beaches and the woods to play in and Florida is one of the few places where you can live in one town and have access to both.
Is Belle Haven based on a real town?
Belle Haven is sort of an amalgamation of several Florida towns. But the Belladonna pack house is a real house located approximately 30 miles outside of Orlando, Florida and you can actually see it here. Many of the wooded areas I talk about are actually located in my hometown of Jupiter, Florida and are places I frequented as a kid. If you would like to know where some of the town descriptions came from I loosely based them on a town called Chipley, Florida. If you follow my Pinterest page you have probably seen some of my pins from the town.
Do the coordinates used in the book actually go anywhere?
Yes! If you put them into google they will take you to Greenwood cemetery located in New Orleans and if you image search in google you may even happen upon the mausoleum Mace is sitting on when Ember sees him for the first time.
Are there even wolves in Florida?
Yes. I know most people think of Florida as beaches, gators and mosquitoes but Florida has wolves, coyotes, foxes and even panthers. The Florida panhandle is home to the red wolf and even has a breeding program to help the once near extinct wolves. There is even a wolf sanctuary in a remote area north of Panama City and south of Chipley where I based the book. The Seacrest Wolf Preserve is the only wolf preserve in all of Florida and is one of the largest wolf preserves in the United States. People can visit there and hike through the preserve on a guided tour and interact with the wolves and small animals such as foxes, racoon and even baby wolves. But human visitors are only allowed on Saturdays by reservation only. I’m planning to make the trip very soon and I’ll be blogging and documenting the experience on my Instagram.
